At the Arizona Regionals, this coming weekend,
Team #2449 will have a portable PIC programmer available. (and I wouldn't be suprised if Team #39 will also have one, as
Frank Neuperger has done quite a bit of research into this anomaly ... here's a
link to his post discussing his results)
We took a different (cheaper) approach, and after following the advice found in
this thread, we made the cable and used the freeware to successfully reprogram our PIC.
No guarantees, but we can re-upload the HEX file for a team in need and hopefully resolve their board problems. It worked like a charm for us.
