Perhaps so, but the question is not about individual teams. It's about alliances. What generally wins competitions is not a robot's ability to "do everything", but the team's ability to work effectively with others.
Doing everything well is often less effective than doing one or two things
exceptionally well. The RoboChickenPack alliance at St. Louis had a team with exceptional speed and agility, a team with exceptional ball-handling ability, and a team with exceptional tactical skills. They won against alliances with very good robots that individually did everything well...just not as
exceptionally well.
