You are allowed to buy whatever batteries you'd like, but that doesn't mean they're legal for running with during matches. If you're talking about the main 12V motorcycle battery, you're allowed to buy and use more, but they MUST be the MK Battery ES-17 Battery (or whatever your kit battery is. it's way too early at the moment)

If you're talking about the backup battery, you're allowed to buy and use any 7.2V Ni-Cad battery you'd like.
