Re: How FIRST has affected you?
FIRST has had a huge impact on me. I was a good/above average student in high school, but not that high level needed to get all of the great scholarships out there. I was a student leader in our machine shop for 3 of my 4 years. I got the attention of a Engineer on our team, and after our last competition in 2006 he gave me an offer for an internship. Without FIRST, I probably wouldn't be going for my Mechanical Engineering Degree, nor have a good-paying job that takes care of my college costs.
Also, if it hadn't been for the wonderful mentors on 447, like Dan Newby, that taught me so much I wouldn't be where I am today.
