What isn't repeatable by "run motor for 2 seconds" in response
to a button press? Is there anything in the rules that says that
the action in response to the button press must occur immediately?

It seems that this would be closer to the spirit of the rule
than having a button "speed up by 10%" and a button "slow
down by 10%".
