Well, you have to realize that reporters rarely state all the facts and even rarer state that correct facts.

They are not experts in what they are reporting, they are experts in reporting itself, so many of the details are lost in the articles.

I've read many articles of which I had first hand knowledge, and almost without exception, there are factual errors. That being said, I now take most information I read with a grain of salt.

The one exception is technical papers, or any article written by someone with first-hand knowledge.
