eGroups.com offers email groups (listserves) to anyone.
You can create one in minutes, and configure it the way you want.
Features:
Calendar, links, activity log, message archive, files (FTP)...etc. It's free, but you've gotta put up with
advertising messages in the first posting. Replies have no advertising. Its well run and quite useful.
Members can unsubscribe or suspend their mail at any time.

: I have an idea. I have often thought that it would be nice to have a place for FIRST folks to establish e-mail groups sort of at will. For example, I might want to form an e-mail group on Team Leader Burnout (not really ;-) It would be cool if I could form the group and that the group formation would automatically broadcast to the general message group. The e-mail would have links of course that would allow them to easily subscribe to the sub-group's messages.
