Re: Where has the GP gone???

I believe the phrase GP has been slaughtered and dragged beyond death. To me, the phrase "gracious professionalism" is losing more and more meaning as we keep using it over and over. I like this four word phrase I was taught a while back by my parents, family, teachers, and mentors alike: "Do the right thing" and that extends to "even when no one is looking." And if that isn't good enough for you I prefer a term called sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is at a peak in FIRST, where ever you turn your head, you will see teams lending a helping hand, and others apologizing and shaking hands for some of the causalities of war that occur where there is an intense competitive aura around . ...

About Jane's comment (of stepping back and not posting for a little while), I bet if Brandon temporarily suspended posting rights and made every form READ-ONLY so that we could take this 'break' you speak of, I bet he would have "negative reputation beyond repute" because people would claim it is "un-GP" for whatever reasons people could come up with.

Also as a remark to last year--some stuff happened. But not talking about Atlanta, at LSR and Bayou [and I bet others too] when there was damage to opponents, some teams made sure that they were okay. I remember that I got about ten to fifteen students to the pits of our opponents and made sure that the opposing team would be ready to run out of the crate at their next competition.

I wouldn't say there is a need for putting the keyboards down, but a need of realization of multiple things including 1) anything you post reflects your team, sponsors, and lastly yours 2) everybody is entitled to their opinion, just because you don't agree don't be quick to neg rep. have a good reason and don't be so 'trigger happy' 3) we as a community need to realize that you should NEVER silence ANY voice. Maybe moderate it from time to time, but sometimes the best comments come from people on the outside, or even people that don't see eye to eye with you. I bet there are others too, but those are some I thought were worth mentioning, for both "elite" members and for the "rookie" members alike.

Peace.
Pavan
