Re: mic on coaches?

I just realized I never posted my opinion on wearing a mic as a coach. I coached the majority of our matches this year, and I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything I wouldn't have wanted anyone in the arena to hear.

Having said that, I would be against putting live mics on coaches during matches. I don't think this would add anything to the coverage. The mics used in television sports coverages are typically used in recap segments, I have never seen them used live. The reason for this is much of a coaches banter in any sport is not particularly exciting to the average spectator.

I would have no problem wearing a mic during the match, and I am actually putting this on my list of ideas for next year right below a fixed upper deck camera for our matches. I think it would be helpful addition to reviews of our matches and the strategies employed and their effectiveness.
