Re: mic on coaches?
No one ever said if this happened it would have to be truely live.
Anyone hear of a 10 second delay for editing purposes in a clinch?
"Colorful": language is just a byproduct of being in the players' station at times.
Actually it's a byproduct of being invovled in the Pit Area as well...
Or.. moreso.. being involved in the whole stessful build season as well...
Or... during queing...
Let's face it, off beat language is just one of the few "bad" byproducts of the overall picture within this competition based environment we have in FIRST - but there are plenty of good byproducts to outweigh these bad ones. It happens, and while when that colorful language is used in excess it could put a damper on the overall feel of the event, it's bound to happen, and you just have to accept it and roll with it.
There is one mindset of thinking that states that the reason swearing or other colorful language is so taboo is that people make a big deal over it.
I tend to agree with that.
If it wasn't made such a big deal, no one would notice it.
Same with regional music. If a swear word is used in a song, most people wouldn't even regard it unless someone made a big fuss over it, and intentially brought it up and then it would be known & the music then targeted as "evil". lol
Same with this recording of players' stations.
I would personally want to hear the recording uncut & raw, but would also have the option to have an edited version for people who know they would get offended at the stress driven language.
Also, if I heard a person who I thought was a great coach in FIRST using some off language in the players' station, I wouldn't blacklist them from working with them because everyone has their own style, and if it works for them, then so be it.
