I'll echo the peer tutoring.

Here at School of Mines, study groups are encouraged (one might see something someone else misses), as are talking to the profs and dropping by the tutoring center under the library.

I find that for physics, a talk with my TA can help a lot--I don't think I could have finished my last assignment without his showing me one or two problems. (Of course, showing up for recitation can help too--I just hadn't been able to make it to that particular one.)

Then again, I'm in college--but I'm sure you can find some way of doing this in high school, too.
