Re: How FIRST has affected you?
The wheels come full circle, and I have my own experience, which is in harmony with many of the previous post. I have always been the first one done with my assignments, and unfazed or joyed at finding I recieved a 100 on my final. School was boring and had been for several years. That's why I had decided to attend Shoemaker, for the robotics team. Being an active participant and only programmer on the team has been a challenge, and I find challenges rather rare and enjoyable. There was always something that needed to be figured out.
But more important than my own enjoyment of the challenges posed by this year, are the skills I've been forced to learn while on the team. Interpersonal, team effort, and Gracious Professionalism are just some of the values and skills I learned.
More than anything else in the world, FIRST challenged my mind, and I found I still have so much more to learn.I hope to continue participating in FIRST even after I graduate, and hope to help make true the mission of FIRST.
