Anyway, I would like to take this thread into a bit of a different direction; i.e., what made you get into metal? For me, I would have to say it was because of the mainstream music. I didn't have any like in music until middle school, and up until that point I had the mainstream music (rap, r&b, soft rock, alt, etc) shoved down my throat, so I found something different, which was metal...and I've liked it since.

So, what made YOU like metal?

My friend Adam dropped all of his music from his iPod onto my computer, and I started listening to it. That got me into metal. Most of it was Metallica and System of a Down. I now enjoy all kinds of metal.
