As you can see the older version of this gripper looks to be considerably heavier than the final product. From my initial glances, it must have taken hours and hours of during the fix-it windows to get the new gripper done. Very few teams are willing to put in those extreme hours after ship, most are more likely to stick with what they have. I love it when teams aren't willing to settle for "good enough" and continue working to make sure they're "great". It's this level of dedication and desire that separates the great teams from the good, and keeps The Pink Team at the top of the FIRST world. |
Thanks for the kind words Karthik, our motto is "It ain't done till it's done". As for time, thats the beauty of the waterjet and flanged bearings, just at an hour and the manipulator is off the jet, then 10 minutes with a few reemers and its ready to "Rock".
