We didn't attend any tournaments where there have been other "wicked fast" lap bots, but we think our "Speed Racer" would have given other lap-bots a run for their money.
We didn't get to compete with our
"Speed Racer" robot configuration during the regular season, but did compete at last weekend's "Beantown Blitz" as a separate team (shown in the standings as "Team 9151").
This was the first tournament in which Speed Racer competed -- during the regular season, only two practice matches were driven at the Granite State Regional. So far this offseason, Speed Racer has only been a "substitute" robot at WPI's Battlecry -- Beantown Blitz, however, was the first tournament in which Speed Racer actually competed, as "Team 9151".
Videos of our best teleop round (13 laps) is now available on the team's webpage at

Our 7-line, 13-lap round was preceded by a match boasting 8 lines in auto and 10 laps in teleop and followed by a 7 line, 11 lap match. I'm sure there must have been some faster robots out there in a straight line, but Speed Racer's maneuverability makes for some very quick laps, whether in competition or on an empty field.
