There is a lot of development involved and you don't want to be learning how to make a crab drive behave when you're in the middle of robot design for a new game. Don't bite off more than you can chew, especially for minimal gain. The best way to be successful is to simplify!

PS - I lied a little bit; my real advice is to never to a swerve drive at all, they don't provide any huge benefit to your robot design beyond a basic skid steer.
