To that end, I just dusted off
"Ruff Draft" by the late great
J Dilla. I've yet to hear a particularly bad beat from him--always unique, always with that depth to the production that you can't often find on the radio. (I also recommend
Donuts, a full-length effort of his that has been sampled by some pretty big names after his death.)
