I was surprised to see that nobody posted this. The how-to site instructables is running a contest tied with robogames, a multi-disciplinary robotics competition. For people who write how-tos for different robot components and general robot related instructions. The contest entry just ended, but voting is going on now for the next couple weeks.
I put together a quick instructable on how to build a combat robot. I know that I always seem to stir things up with the combat stuff on chiefdelphi but it is a general one and I figure if people are interested in robotics they should have the info.
There are lots of interesting entries into the contest and for you hobbyist you might like checking them out.
Since this is a contest I would appreciate it if anyone would vote for my entry.

You will need to register for the site to vote, but it is well worth it as instructables is one of my fav sites on the web for cool ideas
