I wish I had known that

-put an amp in the spike that controls the compressor
-andymark has hubs
-see if there is a cnc shop in town
-draw every piece of your robot in solidworks
-use high strand silicon wire from banebots
-use these motors with a gearbox (you can actually use these motors):
