Applications were passed out at the library read-alouds where the students read a book to the little ones and demo a robot. So it's very possible that they were inspired either by the robot in the book (which is from 2005 and has wheels) or robot that was demo'ed (from 2001 and has a tread system).

We use Lil MOE from 2001 partly because it is small and compact, and partly because we won the National Championship with it and don't want to take it apart!

Feel free to use or distribute any of the books we have on our website. We are pretty proud of them and would like to see them used.
