For the past two years we have all but ignored them. This year, we would like to tap into this resource (it could be very rewarding).

We have a long weekend coming up on October 17. We will have the 17th and the 18th (thursday and friday) because of teacher conventions.

Considering that we have over a month to plan and start to approach them, how should we proceed?

The two ideas we have had were to let them know in advance (maybe drop off an informational packet) or split up into groups and go door to door to these businesses during that long weekend.

What do you suggest?

thanks, Vivek
You should start with seeing if you have a connection into any of the companies because that really helps. Creating an informational packet about your team is a great way to let the companies see who you are and what you do. I would not just show up to a large company, if it is a mom and pop type of store then that would be fine. I would also call the larger companies first and see if you could talk to someone in their PR Marketing group and pitch the idea to them because in the long run the decision is up to the person running the company. That is my two cents and I hope it helped you a little bit. If you have any more ideas please feel free to bounce them off of me and send me a PM.
