You can manually operate the valves by pressing the red (or orange) button on the valve. This helps when debugging and hand-operating the valves.

As for the pneumatics in general... think of the force involved:

F=PA

The force of a 2" cylinder = the pressure (60 psi) x the area of the cylinder (3.14 sq.in.).

That's over 180 lbs. of force... yowee.
