45 degree PVC angle fittings: which?

Posted by Joe Balint at 1/14/2001 1:05 AM EST

Engineer on team #537, Domo ARIGATO, from Sussex Hamilton HS and GE Medical Systems.

For those who have manufactured the goals:
I found two versions of the 45 degree PVC angle
fittings. One is smooth (Ace HW part #43255) the other
has a neck at it's center (Ace HW part #43131). Can
anyone who examined this feature of the goals at
Kick-off answer either of the following:
1) Which 45 degree PVC angle fittings are the correct
ones; ACE HW #43255 smooth or #43131 necked?
2) What is the distance from inside one bend to the
inside of one of the next bends around the perimeter?
Basically, what is the length of one of the PVC octogon
sides?

WE have aproblem: It's obvious that the large ball
(inflated to spec) sits much further down into our
team's version of the goal then the large ball did at
the goals at the Kick-off.
Suprisingly enough, I can't find this dimension
anywhere in the blueprint.

Any help would be appreciated. -Joe
