I have already commented on this subject (I don't know
what Brandon has done with the search feature or I
would have a link to it -- actually, he tells me that a
new search feature is coming, I suppose that he took
the old search down to work on the new search feature).
My bottom line is that I like the FIRST solution that
they have for sale through Small Parts Inc.
BUT... Drive systems are SO critical and the
DrJoesDrillShaft solution is competition tested and not
too expensive, I recommend that teams make them and use
them anyway.
Next year if the new coupling works out, use them.
This year I would wait and see.

P.S. Pushing is NOT the highest load condition on the
robot motor shafts. Excited drivers instantaneously
going from Full Speed ahead to Full Reverse in the heat
of battle put much more stress in those shafts than a
straight pushing match will ever stress them. Dynamic
Loading is real and really significant.JJ
