Last year our team used U-Bolts to hold our drive (drill) motors in place. We put the motors in their (plastic) casings and filed notches for the U-Bolts. We had very little success with this as the motors had a tendency to rotate under the U-Bolt.

: Yup, they are fasteners, which are unlimited as long as you use them as fasteners, which you are doing, so it is legal.
