Wood although cheaper, seems to be a bit more difficult to build and design with to get the same functionality. Exactly, there seems to be a frenzy of people wanting wood bases because of how "Simple" and "Easy" they are. So far, I've yet to see a design or setup that really is simpler or easier than a well designed base using more conventional materials.
