: the past few years we have pretty much just zip tied the motor to the frame, it held ok, last year we made a mount, just a hole drilled in 1/4" aluminum plate, to fit the housing into. it worked good. another thing we found is that to let the motor float just a little. if you strap it down too tight, that puts all the work force on the shaft, not always a good thing... good luck guys -rich

: : does anyone have pictures of their bots in the past years with their gear housing used as a mount for the drills?

: : a description will go a long way too..

: : at the moment, although we'd rahter mill a pretty looking mount for our drive motors, we do not have the luxury. on the other hand, we would also settle for the gear housings for the drills if we could spraypaint them a different color.

: : So basically, i'd like to how people have modified (cut?) their drill motor housings in the past years...

: : thanks..............

If you really do it right, your drive shaft will be mounted on it's own bearings. The white papers recommend it. You'll never be wrong for doing it, but may pay a costly price for not doing it.
Good Luck
