Yes, it it good to caution folks to read the thread and do some searches but it is also good to remember when we first started posting in ChiefDelphi and the huge learning curve involved.
If I were going to carp on anything - oh wait - harp on anything - it would be to be mindful of spelling and using complete words and sentences. It isn't productive to use text lingo when posting in ChiefDelphi. For one important reason: there are many engineers, technologists, scientists, teachers, and professionals reading what we write. This would include members of the Game Design Committee (the GDC). Now is as good a time as any to begin writing like you would be writing an award submission like the Chairman's Award or the Woodie Flowers Award. Save your text lingo and impulsive posts that are empty of content - for social networking opportunities.

P.S. oh yes, and when you are scanning a thread, stop scanning - and read and comprehend/absorb the posts that have been made. That will help you decide if you want to post, how you want to post, and what you want to post. Guaranteed.

Good advice from Jane, as always.
I'm just going to add my own story, now that I've been around on Chief Delphi a bit. When I first joined CD, I had been using it as a resource for a while. I joined so that I could post my own question asking for advice about turning robotics into a class you could get school credit for, not realizing that other people had created threads long before on the subject with plenty of useful information. Some friendly people gave me advice, and also referred me to a search for what I was looking for- it was great, I got all the information I needed, and I learned about the handy search feature. However, I probably would have gotten disheartned and abandonded CD if countless people came and whined about me learning to search and reading everything on CD before I posted. It is true, but it only needed to be said once. I hope everyone, veterans and new members alike, keeps a positive attitude on Chief Delphi, even with all the frenzy that comes with game hints and the beginning of the new season. Happy
FIRSTing!
