Last year, we (246) split our different "scenes" into different files for ease of rendering.. then we combined them all after into one file to output to video...

Seperate files makes it easier for a lot of things. Firstly, if you have multiple machines you can render them all at the same time instead of having to do the whole 30secs in sequence. As well, you can take out the unnecessary background stuff for the individual files to speed up rendering (aka.. take out what the camera doesn't see in that scene)

Seems to make it easier to go back and change little things and speeds up the whole process
