Re: Solid Works For Mac (Petition)

Whoa, thread revival. It's like a brain freeze, but without the freeze.

Moving onward, I present to you SolidWorks running on a Mac.

All it takes is a lot of RAM (right now I'm at 4GB), VMWare Fusion 2 (hurray, Unity), and a copy of Windows XP/x64 Pro (Vista as a virtual machine? Heck no, do you think I like hurting myself?)

The end result is definitely useable; I wouldn't call it awesome (that's what Boot Camp is for), but it's not terrible either. The performance through the virtual machine is on par with the native performance on my laptop.

In case you were wondering, the assembly in the above screenshot is of a possible frame design I've been helping 228 work on; it's similar to our 2007 frame, but with various improvements across the board.

// And I don't want to hear any "I can tell by the pixels its a shop" nonsense. Clearly, Photoshop is not open.
