60Amp Circuit Breaker Mounting "Experience"

Posted by Ken Patton at 1/31/2001 8:02 PM EST

Engineer on team #65, The Huskie Brigade, from Pontiac Northern High School and GM Powertrain.

We just experienced an interesting situation with the circuit breaker switch. In a situation where the robot experienced high g-forces (okay, the bridge was involved, the robot got airborne, then it landed...), the switch actually shut off. Our switch was *not* hard mounted. It did experience g-forces in the direction of making the switch turn off.

The Lesson Learned: watch how you mount the switch!

FYI,
Ken
