Re: [FF]: 2009 Season Long FF

I don't mean to knock those running FF this year, but think a new system would be really nice.

I was originally signed up, but decided to back up because it was simply too much work. I want to do a FF, but having a draft every night is simply too much work. Also, I know on average 15 teams per regional so ranking every team, for me atleast, seemed kinda like a waste. I may get one team I know, but after that it would basically be random and thus my chances of winning would be almost based on chance. I know it was touched on earlier, but I find the way it is run now very confusing and unorganized. I still haven't found the rules and how points are decided. I think this may be a good system, but there are just too many regionals. With the amount of regionals increasing, I think this system will eventually be nearly impossible.

My proposal:
I like the idea of drafting a set number of teams at the beggining of the year and then 'playing' only a couple each week. One problem of this would be one massive draft. So, instead of having one huge league, have a couple smaller leagues (10 or 20 people). You could run them like soccer and have teams move up or down the leagues based on how they did the past year (the first year would be random, but the next year the top 10 teams would be in league 1, the next 10 in league 2...and new teams placed in the last league).

It would work something like this (the numbers probably will have to be slightly altered): If you had 50 people that want to play, you split them up into 5 leagues of 10. Each team would draft 20 teams. You could have 1 round per night for 20 days in december. 200 teams would be drafted (so people shouldn't be stuck with some random rookie team that they know nothing about). Each week at 7 pm on Wednesday, each owner will pick 3 teams to play that week (to make it easier, you could make it impossible for owners to drop/pickup teams). At the end of each week and at the end of the year, points will be tallied and after the championship event, a winner is announced. As the end of the 2nd year, the top 2 teams move up a league, while the bottom two teams move down. (so the best play the best and the owner that wins the top league, is the true FF champion). Since it appears there are several people that are interested in helping, one person could be in charge of each league.
