Here is a poem for everyone to enjoy!
’Twas the Week Before Kickoff
By Team 692, The Fembots
(with apologies to Clement C. Moore)
’Twas the week before Kickoff, when all through the state
Not a robot was stirring, within its own crate.
The tools were hung on the pegboard with care,
In hopes that Dean Kamen soon would be there.
The students were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of parts kits danced in their heads.
And mentors in their wisdom and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter’s nap.
When out on Chief Delphi there arose such a chatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to Microsoft® Windows® I flew like a goose,
Opened the FIRST website and clicked on the clues.
The first was a fish, all silver and spotted.
“An opah?” I asked. “Yes,” my friend nodded.
I knew not what it meant as I sat there and stared,
But I appreciated the thoughts that the posters had shared.
The next clue was full of all kinds of strange places,
But I knew it was easy to find friendly faces
Among all the FIRST teams in this world so spacious
Where professionalism, my friends, is always so gracious.
Now pistons! Now cables! Now tubing and connectors!
On, motors! On, bearings! On gauges and victors!
From January the third! To February the seventeenth!
Now build away! Build away! Build away all!
Good luck teams!!!
