I don't have any firsthand experience using Git on Mac OS X, but I know it does work, though I can't name any specific OS. The people I know, who I collaborate with, that use Git on Mac OS X use
MacPorts. I don't know how well the OS X packages linked to on the Git homepage work at all. Let me know if you find something that works.
