Drill Motor Life

Posted by Ben Mitchell at 2/4/2001 11:41 AM EST

Student on team #303, Vulgens Heroes, from Bridgewater-Raritan HS and Bihler.

I recall reading a post some time back about the drill motors having a limited life- that after a certain number of hours they needed to be changed out.

That post has scrolled off the board, and I would like to know from others' experience how long the drill motors tend to last, and how often they should be changed out. Also, when they fail, has anyone done a post-mortem to see how - i.e. gearbox failure, armature burned out, bearing failure, et cetera.

Thanks for the assistance.
