Don't use Meebo, use IRC, a well proven technology
Freenode is a network for "peer directed projects" like FIRST (though designed for software). There are FIRST-related channels for FRC, FIRST in general, FLL, etc registered. See my footer.
Or you may want to set up a dedicated IRC server. But the point is the same, IRC works.
