The war on drugs

Considering:
-the diversity of the FIRST community
-a primary goal of promoting science and engineering skills and interest
-also goals of building self-confidence, leadership, and life skills

You weren't very clear what you were referring to with an "anti-drug" commercial. Could you be a little more specific?

If you were referring to the politics of the war on drugs, personally, I do not think it is prudent for FIRST to take political stands outside of science and engineering.

If you were concerned with potential harmful effects of illegal and non-regulated drugs on the human body, I do not think it is prudent for FIRST to give medical advice without consultation.

Irresponsible use of mind-altering substances can have horrible impacts on science and engineering. I'm certain the FIRST community would never suggest a drunk wielding power tools among high-school students as anything other than a horrible violation of G<42>. However, if this community is going to start extending ideologies outside of the program that FIRST has designed, I think we need to have a substantial discussion on the subject.
