Autodesk doesn't list XP Home in their
system requirements - just XP Pro and Vista. I can't say for sure if this is the cause of your problem, but Inventor has always been very picky about system resources.
If you haven't solved this problem by now and haven't contacted Autodesk, I recommend you go that route. If you have solved it, it might be helpful for others to know how you did it.
