I heard this secondhand so it may not be accurate, but apparently several rookie teams in our area had problems with the hubs cracking due to overtightening of the bolts. The simple solution is to place spacers in between the two hubs. The not so simple solution is to machine your own out of aluminum or polycarb. My advice: If you machine your own, do it right: the two hubs should touch between the spokes.

: So far ours have been working fine although we haven't really driven the robot much. I would suggest replacing the spacers that SPI provides however. They are rather inadequate for the task. Just machine some polycarbonate spacers for replacements and you should be fine. I'd also recommend that you make sure the hubs are fully seated onto the wheel chair wheels and that the bolts aren't over tightened.
