Try using a polycarbonate mounting system. Last year we had a little box that folded up. You had to remove the joysticks but otherwise the whole thing worked very well. You just have to make it no larger than 1'x3'. The advantage of it closing up is that it protected the whole thing from getting bumped around or whatnot. BTW, I was on team 7 at the time....
