Re: From CAD to SolidWorks

What type of file is it? If it's an Inventor file (.ipt, .iam, or something similar), you'll need to save it as something Solidworks can read, such as a STEP file.

Incidentally, my version of Solidworks--the Educational 2008 version--can supposedly open an Inventor file. However, it can't save one. Go figure.

(BTW, CAD stands for Computer-Aided Design. Solidworks is one of many CAD programs.)
