Analog Input #8 in Slot 1 is the middle pin of the 3-pin header on the Analog Breakout. When the jumper is connected to the top 2 pins, battery voltage is connected to Analog Input #8. When the jumper is connected to the bottom 2 pins, the 8th input on the 3x8 pin field is connected to Analog Input #8 in case you've get an 8th analog voltage to read. With no jumper installed, Analog Input #8 is floating and indeterminate.

Per the rules, the jumper MUST be installed for battery voltage monitoring on Analog Input #8 of Slot 1.
