I am currently working as part of Michigan Tech's chapter of the ASME Student Design Competition. This year's challenge is to create a small (370x165x165 mm) robot to pick up rocks and drop them in a goal area. For more information see here:
ASME Student Design Competition
To create our robot, we are looking into 6-channel RC units, speed controls, and some small motors. I was hoping that some fellow CD members who might have experience in these items would help us out. We are looking for good sources for the parts, and trying to stay under budget. As we have little experience with these items, I would also appreciate warnings of any pitfalls normally related to speed controllers and RC units. Any information you have would be most useful.
Thank You
