It will be up to the inspectors/referees at events to decide, but the fact that you are worried about it means (and I would think so also) that there's a good chance someone will have a problem with it. If you're looking for cool lighting for your operator console, take a look at some of the inexpensive, commonly available lighting kits for computers, such as
this one.
