The 5th through 8th seeds should not be forced to pair with the top four seeds. It might have saved a little time during the selection process that proceeds the elimination rounds, but does not make for a more exciting competition. It is another crapshoot on whether or not each alliance gets the best mix of robots to compete well. Or in other words, it infects the elimination rounds with the "luck of the draw" that infects then seeding rounds. Let the top four seeds put together the best combo of players they can.
