We encountered this problem at the los angeles regional. the ramp popped off the base twice during the practice rounds alone, and it was actually EASIER to balance than the bridge we made up for our team.
(we couldn't get any aluminum diamond place donated, so we used wood) I'm not sure, but i think we had the same ramp you all used.
