2009 PARC XII! Pennsylvania Robot Challenge

Good morning teams!

The Tigertrons team 222 and the PARC committee sat down and had our first official meeting last night. We have some exciting new plans for PARC this year to make it more than just a competition.

First the business end:

Where: Tunkhannock Area High School
120 West Tioga Street
Tunkhannock, PA 18657

When: May 9, 2009 doors open 7:00AM competition ends 5:00PM

Team limit: 30 teams

Registration (Note this has changed): http://asp.shinraikon.com/parcxii/registration.aspx

Volunteer Registration (This has also changed): http://asp.shinraikon.com/parcxii/Volunteer.aspx

New Cost: $175.00

Please let us know if you have any problems with the registration pages. I will try to keep the team list up to date on here. If you know you definitely are having trouble registering you can send me a PM on here with all the information and I will pass it along.

The registration pages have changed due to a conflict of software between the team's webpage host and the software our webpage team used to redesign our site. The normal PARC registration page will be up some time in the future, but we are unsure exactly when.

Now the fun stuff:

OK we realize that PARC has been lacking in other non-robot activities for teams to have fun at. This year we are changing things up a bit hoping to not only attract more team members, but also people from our community.

List of activities so far:

chicken BBQ with pre-sale tickets will be available once our plans are finalized

Technology fair including local colleges - we are currently building a list of local colleges and technology based businesses for demonstrations and recruiting. If you would like to be involved in a technology booth please shoot me a PM.

free miniature golf - students of the TASD CADD classes are designing and building a miniature golf course that will be on display for everyone to use

We may have some competition related games to be announced.

We are still in the planning stages. If you or your team has any suggestions on what you would like to see at PARC we would like to hear them. Feel free to post any ideas in the thread or send me a PM.

Disclaimer: none of these activities are officially set in stone. I will be sure to keep all teams up to date on any changes.

Finally, I know it's been a long post. I'm personally looking for a list of awards teams would like to see given out. Afterall this competition is about the teams that attend.

We hope to see everyone at the PARC!
