It's always possible, and there are a few teams that do this, but it's a much larger time and equipment commitment. There's owning or buying the camera itself, then there's the need to set it up in a suitable location, if there is one. Then someone has to babysit the camera for most of the regional, as you can't count on it not walking off, or not being sat in front of. Plus you'd probably still want to record the standard feed as well, as it covers the ceremonies much better and has much better audio.

So it's not impossible.... Just highly annoying. Things would be easier if FIRST just set up an overview camera for webcasts and things and split that feed off for teams to record as well. Or if they hired camera people over the age of 18, who know you can't make a shot more exciting by rapidly zooming in and out or rolling the camera side to side.
