Re: 2009 MI Cass Tech

As both a 1941 and 503 mentor, I was immensely proud and profoundly conflicted when both teams faced off in the semi-finals of this year's Cass Tech District competition.

I found myself cheering for both alliances at once, something I found will lead to very strained vocal cords the next day!

I still can't believe I saw what I saw. Here is a little known fact, four teams built and tested in 503's facility this year, 1941, 3115, 2832, and of course 503. Of those four, three of them were at Cass Tech and three of them made the elimination rounds. 503 is proud to be associated with that level of success.

Watching 1250, 469, and 1941 compete with 67, 217, and 3098 was an amazing sight. 67 and 217's machines inspire me year in and year out, so when they teamed up I fully expected them to steamroll their competition. Although they formed a tremendous alliance, I think a wonderful aspect of this years game is that everyone had a shot at winning. If one ball had fallen differently here or there, the results could've changed. That being said, when I saw the Thunderchickens load a supercell into their robot at the end of the final match, I knew our previously close match was one accurate shot from being over. Congratulations on excellent strategy and even more excellent execution, the drivers never lost their cool.
