The Plight of a Hamster in Flight

Posted by colleen - T190 at 04/03/2001 11:28 PM EST

Engineer on team #190, Gompei, from Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science and WPI.

You could never imagine that trying to bring a hamster on vacation with you could be such a difficult task. But as team 190 found out this past week, it's not something that is looked kindly on by airline officials.

So after some amazingly valiant efforts by our Hamster keeper and Thundergod extraordinare Tim Baird, we found that it really is impossible to travel legally with a hamster.

So, unfortunately, Team190 will have to go through nationals without their beloved Whatnot's power. She will be missed.

However, not to fear, Team190 will have hamster power in Florida!! We will be braving the wild of the Florida roads to get NotWhat, our national hamster representative, to power us through the National Competition.

So all you folks in Archimedes, come by and say hi to the hamster for good luck.. all those in other divisions.. just start trembling now.. the force of a hamster is nothing to write off!

Best of luck to you all-- be sure to visit team 190 in our NEW Hamster Power t-shirts.. and say hi to NotWhat..

See ya in the sun!
